With one foot in the library and the other on the dancefloor, Voxtrot combine classic 60‘s pop (think Love and Left Banke) with the heady, subversive sounds of 80‘s Britain and still come out ahead of their time. Originally conceived as an outlet for vocalist Ramesh Srivastava to record a handful of songs he had written, it soon became apparent that Voxtrot was meant to be more than a home recording project. The band quickly rose to popularity in its home of Austin, TX through now-legendary house party performances and capacity-filled club shows as home-made CDRs circulated and were eagerly snatched up. Amazingly enough, throughout this time, Srivastava was working towards a degree in English Literature at university in Glasgow, leaving Voxtrot only summers and holidays for the band to be active. This all changed in 2005 when Srivastava put his collegiate life on hold to pursue music full-time. With newfound focus, Voxtrot has toured the US throughout most of 2005 in support of their Raised By Wolves EP, turning heads at SXSW, CMJ and SF Popfest.
