The music of Led Zeppelin is imitated by numerous groups around the world, however this performance will be unlike any before. Afro-Zep and Seneke are teaming up for a very special performance at Lincoln Hall that will feature both groups performing on-stage together. Songs will showcase the intense and complex rhythms and dance of Seneke while still maintaining the melodic hard rock feel of Led Zeppelin.
Afro-Zep originated in 2009 with the mission to spread African music to wider audiences while paying tribute to the greatest rock band of all time. Their live set goes in and out of Fela Kuti/Zeppelin mash-ups, acoustic sing-alongs backed by poly-rhythmic drumming and original arrangements inspired by artists such as Franco, Tinariwen and Thomas Mapfumo.
Seneke, founded by master drummer Sekou Conde in 2005, is an eclectic group of musicians and dancers that teach and perform traditional forms of West African music, dance and song. Seneke has stunded audiences locally and abroad with their awesome array of costumes, rhythmic patterns and mind-blowing dance movements. Seneke's purpose is to advance the concept of cultivating rhythmic patterns, dance and song to express the importance of harmony, love and understanding in which peaceful modes of living can be achieved for all human beings in the world.
