Jane and the Steadfast Acrobats is the newly formed urban folk/rock band built around the original songwriting and powerful live performances of singer-songwriter Jane Thatcher. Jane’s vocal stylings have often been compared to those of Natalie Merchant and the group sound lies somewhere between the classic rock of Fleetwood Mac and the raw energy of Janis Joplin. Jane and the Steadfast Acrobats has already gained a following in the local Chicago music scene though they have been gigging out for less than four months. A fateful night at an open mic in July of 2009 propelled Jane back into performing live after a four year absence from the stage. Jane’s comfort on the stage, her accessible and melodic songwriting, and her gutsy live performances immediately landed her solo gigs and she has been performing regularly ever since. In the fall of 2009 Jane met drummer Keith DaProza and bassist Davide Pezzini through the local music circuit. Keith and Davide have a broad musical history together that began when they met in the national cover band, Think Floyd. Through the years the two developed a powerful rhythmic chemistry through working together in various groups including RoundEye and Micki and the Good Name Band. In the true pace of Jane’s music career, they were quickly an up and gigging band playing local venues and events within a few months. The Steadfast Acrobats have most recently been joined by guitarist Steve Stokes and keyboardist Kevin Corcorcan who most recently played together in the New Orleans band Peacekeeper.
